The medical waste that began washing up on Delmarva's ocean beaches Sunday has reached the Delaware Bay. Lewes Assistant City Manager Janet Reeves said medical items were first observed on the beach there late Monday afternoon.

Beachgoers were urged to stay out of the water after dozens of hypodermic needles, as well as tampon applicators and other medical waste, were found on beaches over the weekend.

Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control warned residents as medical waste washed up all over the state, from 'Indian River Inlet to Fenwick Island,' over the weekend.
